ARTISAN KNOBS is
a division of Artisan Sonoma Pottery, located in the Sonoma Valley,
north of San Francisco. All of the work from their kilns originates
from the hands of David Ross. David has been working as a professional
potter for over 25 years. Influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement,
and the consummate skills of Japanese and Chinese pottery masters.
His work has been featured in Designers' West magazine and Style
and Spirit: Craftspeople of the Revival by Chase Reynolds Ewald.
Several years ago, Ross, together with his wife and business partner,
Leta Davis, had a vision that would transform their pottery business.
They recognized that the ornamentation and practicality of the pottery's
art held unexplored promise as a design element in homes. Davis
(a painter and designer, whose own work has been published in House
and Garden, Boston Globe, and Sunset magazines), brought to the
partnership considerable insight into the workings of the art world,
and a firm grasp of the business end of the hardware market. Using
the same art glazes and design excellence inherent in their art
pottery, they began to create porcelain hardware and ARTISAN KNOBS
was born.
